Questions people actually ask.
No. We never ask Google for permission to read your mail, so our servers cannot fetch, search or download it. The extension works only inside the Gmail tab you have open, where it draws the checkmarks and notices replies to emails you tracked. We keep no message content: not the body, not attachments, not even a preview.
For each email you track: the subject, the recipients' names and addresses, when you sent it, and any links you chose to track. Then what the tracker records: when it was opened or a link was clicked, with the IP address and browser of each open and click, and who replied and when. We never keep the body, the attachments or a preview, and we do not turn IP addresses into locations.
Yes. You can delete the tracked emails shown in your dashboard one at a time, or your whole account, yourself, whenever you want. On the Free plan the dashboard lists the last 30 days, so to remove an older email sooner, delete your account or email us. Tracking data also deletes itself 12 months after the email was sent. Only the web addresses behind tracked links are kept for up to 12 months more, with no connection to you, so links you already sent keep working. The details, including the few records we have to keep such as billing history, are in our privacy policy.
Nothing visible changes in your email. MailViewed never adds its name, a badge, or any branding to your messages, on any plan. There is no “Sent with…” line at the bottom.
MailViewed places a tiny invisible image in each email you track, unique to that message. When the recipient opens the email, their mail app loads the image and we record the open in real time. Automated scanners and privacy proxies load images too, so we filter those out instead of counting them as reads, and any opens we filtered are listed on the email's page with the reason, so you can check it yourself.
